PITCHES
A home match day for Tarvin AFC usually means playing on one of the pitches that we are fortunate to have access to in our local area. Whilst we are named after the central village in our player catchment our usage of pitches in the surrounding villages reflects the community nature of the Club. The pitches we have access to use and how we utilise them are set out below;

Our use of Tarvin Rec is usually for full sized 11v11 matches in our older age groups but we are able to accommodate 7v7 matches for our U9s & U10s. The pitch was subject to substantial drainage works in 2018 and received a pitch refurbishment package of aeration, top-dressing and reseeding in 2024 meaning it is now one of the best draining pitches in the district.

The pitches at Ashton Hayes are some of the best naturally draining pitches in the local area and are usually the last matches to get cancelled due to waterlogging. As well as a full sized 11v11 pitch we benefit from the use of the smaller 9v9 pitch for our U11s and U12s which sits adjacent.

Dog Lane is a pitch that our Club rescued from a real-life wilderness in 2020. After extensive hard work by the then Committee to bring the pitch back into use after being left to the mercy of weeds and brambles for many years, it now provides us with a great pitch used for all match sizes from U9s through to U14s.
Duddon war memorial hall

The pitch accessed from the car park of Duddon War Memorial Hall has been subject to major drainage works in 2024. Having been largely unplayable due to waterlogging over the last 5 years it is hoped that once we return it to use it will be one of our best draining pitches. Duddon will mainly play host to U9s & U10s as well as U15s to U18s but can accommodate most pitch and goal sizes.

Like Tarvin Rec the pitch at Barrow playing field received a pitch refurbishment package of aeration, top-dressing and reseeding in 2024. Barrow plays host to matches for our U9s & U10s 7v7 games as well as U13s & U14s in the reduced goal & pitch size 11v11 format.
